‘Soldier On’ enlisted the help of Aurora Adventures for Liam Haven’s One Foot Forward march. Liam Haven, blinded by an IED blast in Iraq, walked from Sydney to Canberra to raise money and awareness for wounded Australians and Soldier On. This event posed many challenges given Liam’s limited eye sight and challenges on the road, but with a very short lead-up time Aurora Adventures managed to develop a logistics plan for the event and helped to secure permissions and support from police. They also organised the support crew for the walk and provided regular updates to Soldier On throughout the event.
On numerous occasions where changes were required or routes needed to be updated, the team at Aurora was flexible and diligent in their response. No job was too hard and constant contact between the charity and the team on the ground was essential to the success of the event. We would be happy to work with Aurora Adventures again in the future, as their approach was professional, comprehensive and organised. The size of their team also allowed the event to develop, expand and change as and when was needed. Their passion for their work, and for ensuring the success of their events, means Soldier On will work with Aurora Adventures again where we can.’
