Brave Souls Wanted for Bravehearts 777 Marathon
Hailed as the ultimate fundraising adventure for everyday people wanting to achieve extraordinary feats, the Bravehearts 777 is fast gaining momentum for those who want to make a real difference when it comes to the prevention of child sexual assault.
The 777 Marathon kicks-off in Perth on June 29 before continuing on to Adelaide, Melbourne, Launceston, Sydney and Canberra and wrapping up on the Gold Coast at the Gold Coast Marathon on 5 July.
Runners who register to complete all 7 marathons are required to raise $10,000 to go towards Bravehearts’ personal safety education program Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Show and the delivery of specialist support services to children and families affected by child sexual assault.
Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Show, a 40-minute live production has educated more than 750,000 Aussie kids since its inception in 2008 and teaches children age appropriate strategies and skills to stay safe in a range of situations from bullying to sexual assault.
Bravehearts Founder Hetty Johnston AM says the Bravehearts 777 is about activating ‘children’s champions’ in the community to make a real difference for Aussie kids.
“The Bravehearts 777 is getting bigger every year as more people strive to take big steps for little people,” says Mrs Johnston.
“We know that, for the most part, child sexual assault is preventable. We just need adults to step up and prioritise the safety of our most vulnerable members of the community.”
Registrations are now open for state runners who want to participate during this year’s event in their home state. Please visit the Bravehearts website for more details.
