Our Itinerary
Day 1 – Following our flight to Kununurra we will be met by the Home Valley Station crew for our 4WD road transfer to the Station. Upon arrival we will be welcomed to our Guesthouse Rooms and provided a tour of the Homestead grounds. Traditional Owner, Richard “Diesel” Evans along with other Indigenous staff will provide an insight into their land and a Welcome to Country. Dinner will be served in the Dusty Bar & Grill.
Day 2 –Today we meet our horse and get some training in the Aussie art of cattle driving. Horsemanship training and preparation for our ‘city slickers’ cattle drive adventure will be provided all day in the HV8 Stables, Day Paddock, and the Cattle Yards.
Day 3 – With the cattle held and made available in the holding yard, we will receive the herd and begin the first sector, departing after breakfast. The first objective is to move the herd to the Pentecost River at a location known as Ryder’s Hole. Upon arrival at this first location we take a quick break before continuing southward along the picturesque river’s edge to our first overnight camp located at Drover’s Bank.
Day 4 – With night watch duties complete and the camp packed after breakfast, we continue the drove of the herd of cattle changing direction on route to the Gibb River Road, to travel westward toward the HV8 Cattle Yards. Your break will be provided at the halfway point with our ultimate objective today to be in camp before the sun sets, and to have secured the cattle for processing in the HV8 Cattle Yards. Tonight’s camp is at the HV8 Cattle Yards.
Day 5 – After breakfast and the camp is packed, the group will commence processing the herd in the HV8 Cattle Yards with the objective of moving the processed herd into the Pentecost Home Paddock. This release of the cattle after processing marks the end of the cattle station work and a pat on the back for a job well done. We are then led to the HV Airstrip as our horses are handed over to the HV Station Staff. We board our light aircraft for an hour flight to the Bungle Bungle Range for a change in pace of adventure.
Upon arrival at the Bungle Bungle we commence our trek to the spectacular Cathedral Gorge and then onto the picturesque Echidna Gorge on our exploration of this amazing area. We overnight in the beautiful Bungle Bungle awaiting our next adventure installment tomorrow.
Day 6 – At first light, the earliest flight available from the Bungle Bungle takes us to the HV Airstrip. We commence our 18 km trek along the Bindoola Gorge to a location known as Bindoola Falls while ensuring though our indigenous coordinators that the Bindoola sacred site is not disturbed. Camp will be made at Bindoola Falls location, at the top of a cliff with breathtaking views as we sleep under the stars.
Day 7 – We pack-up camp and load all equipment into the HV vehicles for the transfer back to Home Valley Station. Following lunch we refresh and then commence our ultimate Kimberley fishing experience chasing barramundi as we fish into the sunset along the river with cheese, wine and champagne prior to our celebration team dinner at the homestead that night.
